Get A Tan (Tannat)
well, the veterans will remember the wine tastings at my place. You might remember that I like weird wines and lesser-known grapes, one of them being Tannat, the grape with the highest content of tanins. I feel like doing one again, as there have been great developments in my beloved Uruguay. We want to compare the emblematic Uruguayan grape from different regions within the country, from traditional (Canelones) to new, the coast, here with more fancy wineries in the touristy areas Maldonado). But Tannat comes from the French South-West, and here we start, with the Madiran region and Cahors, some great stuff there. We also try the Argentinian high altitude wines (Malbec too), and a Brasilian Tannat from Sierra Gaucha. I make a presentation where you see the terroir and the vineyards the wine is from, to get an idea of what you are drinking, and to get an idea of the landscapes - some of them are breathtaking. I will take 20 Euros for the wines, which you ideally please pay in advance, I hate to collect money on the night. When you sign up, you get my bank account. In the past people brought snacks and cheese (voluntarily) to go with the wine, I just provide some, or we order pizza. We meet at my flat, Bebelstrasse 36, near U-Bahn Schwab-/Bebelstrasse. Tannat is a heavy red grape, we drink strong wines, as tanins comes from this grape, and the phrase to get a tan stems from this grape, so if you are into sweet stuff, these are not your wines. Let麓s who is up to the challenge.
