Chamber Music in a Museum

The Ensemble Fiacorda will open this concert with a lively string quintet by Luigi Boccherini. This will be followed by one of Mozart's greatest masterpieces: The Divertimento in Bb Major, K. 287. One doesn't hear this work in concert very often, because the group of instruments is unusual and does not fit in with the budget of a normal chamber music series! It is a highly emotional work featuring a brilliant part for the 1st violin. Internationally acclaimed clarinetist Karin Dornbusch will be the soloist in the Concertino by Weber, a very tuneful and attractive piece which has always been a favorite among clarinetists and audiences alike.

This concert series is particularly appealing to families with children (ages 4 to 12): The children will listen to the Boccherini Quintet up front near the stage and then go to a musical workshop in another part of the museum. The workshop is supervised by a team of experienced pedagogical experts who know how to engage your children in a creative, interactive session where they explore the music they just heard.鈥˙ecause of the advantageous ticket prices for individuals bringing children, the adults don't have to find a babysitter and can enjoy the rest of the program without worrying about the kids.
鈥═hese concerts are followed by a traditional "Apero" where the audience can mingle with the musicians. The children have a special table and will show us what they have accomplished in the workshop.
